  • **Please note** : this table and the dataset [Fire and Emergency NZ Localities dataset](https://data.linz.govt.nz/layer/104830) are now deprecated and replaced by [NZ Suburbs and Localities](https://data.linz.govt.nz/layer/113764-nz-suburbs-and-localities/) and [NZ Suburbs and Localities Dataset](https://data.linz.govt.nz/set/7364-nz-suburbs-and-localities-dataset/) in June 2023. This table will be removed in November 2023. --- This dataset was created by Toitū Te Whenua Land Information New Zealand to be used in conjunction with the [Fire and Emergency NZ Localities dataset](https://data.linz.govt.nz/layer/104830-fire-and-emergency-nz-localities/) to identify and provide official locality names where a name exists in the New Zealand Gazetteer. The Fire and Emergency NZ Localities dataset currently contains many names that are not the official names for those features, suburbs or localities. The New Zealand Geographic Board (Ngā Pou Taunaha o Aotearoa) Act 2008, [Section 32](http://www.legislation.govt.nz/act/public/2008/0030/30.0/DLM1065412.html) requires all official documents to identify names which are not the official place names as recorded in the [New Zealand Gazetteer](https://gazetteer.linz.govt.nz/). As such this table identifies locality names and the matching official name where an official name in the Gazetteer exists, but Locality name differs from it. It does not take into account any differences in Locality boundaries and the boundary definition of place names in the Gazetteer. This table is a best endeavour and not comprehensive, but will improve over time. Feedback can be sent to linzdataservice@linz.govt.nz

  • This table provides the relationships between building outlines within mainland New Zealand when buildings are split or merged. A building outline is a 2D representation of the roof outline of a building which has been classified from LINZ aerial imagery using a combination of automated and manual processes to extract and refine a building roof outline. **Data vintage** This dataset does not include building outline geometry, but provides the linkages between building_id's from different aerial imagery sources in the [NZ Building Outlines (All Sources)](https://data.linz.govt.nz/layer/101292) dataset when building outlines change from single outlines split into multiple outlines, and from multiple outlines merged as single outlines. This dataset will be updated with changes in building_id relationships as new aerial imagery becomes available. Please refer to the [NZ Building Outlines Data Dictionary](https://nz-buildings.readthedocs.io/en/latest/introduction.html) for detailed metadata and information about this dataset. **Related building outlines data** [NZ Building Outlines (All Sources)](https://data.linz.govt.nz/layer/101292) - directly related to this dataset, it contains all combinations of building outlines from multiple years of imagery that have existed since the beginning of this dataset. [NZ Building Outlines](https://data.linz.govt.nz/layer/101290) - provides current building outlines only derived from the latest LINZ aerial imagery.
