  • NZ Suburbs and Localities describes the spatial extent and name of communities in urban areas (suburbs) and rural areas (localities) for navigation and location purposes. The suburb and locality boundaries cover New Zealand including North Island, South Island, Stewart Island/Rakiura, Chatham Islands, and nearby offshore islands. Each suburb and locality is assigned a name, major name, Territorial Authority and, if appropriate, additional in use names. A population estimate is provided for each suburb and locality by Stats NZ. For more information please refer to the NZ Suburbs and Localities [Data Dictionary](https://data.linz.govt.nz/document/24593/) and the [LINZ Website](https://www.linz.govt.nz/products-services/data/types-linz-data/suburbs-and-localities-data) Changes to NZ Suburbs and Localities can be requested by emailing [addresses@linz.govt.nz](mailto:addresses@linz.govt.nz?subject=NZ Suburbs and Localities Change Request) Change Request Guidance Documents: - [Change Request Process](https://www.linz.govt.nz/sites/default/files/doc/NZ Suburbs and Localities - Change Request.pdf) - [Change Request Principles, Requirements and Rules](https://www.linz.govt.nz/sites/default/files/doc/NZ Suburbs and Localities - Principles Requirements Rules.pdf) --- **APIs and web services** This dataset is available via ArcGIS Online and ArcGIS REST services, as well as our standard APIs. • This dataset defines the Mean High Water coastline of New Zealand and offshore islands at a scale of 1:50,000, and describes the type of coast along the coastline, for example, steep coast, mangrove, or stony shore. **Purpose** The NZ Coastline – Mean High Water dataset is the first step towards improving the national coastline data for New Zealand. LINZ is currently working on a long-term project, “Coastal Mapping” to capture a range of national coastlines derived from LiDAR and bathymetry. This will enable us to generate coastlines, for example, for Mean High Water Springs, Chart Datum and Highest Astronomical Tide. The project is currently focused on capturing LiDAR and bathymetry data, and the timeframe for delivering the new coastlines will be established once the data capture has progressed. **Status** This dataset was created and is maintained from LINZ Hydrographic and Topographic sources. Originally created in August 2020, this dataset will be replaced by a more accurate dataset once data becomes available through the Coastal Mapping project. **Data sources and preparation** The spatial coastline data (1:50,000 scale) is sourced from the Topo50 series where it is described as a line forming the boundary between the land and sea, defined by mean high water. The source polygon data has been broken up into line segments to enable a coastal classification to be attributed to each segment of coast. Coastal classification data is based on official Electronic Navigational Charts published by the New Zealand Hydrographic Authority. Not all segments have been assigned a coastal category. --- **APIs and web services** This dataset is available via ArcGIS Online and ArcGIS REST services, as well as our standard APIs. This table can be used to connect to parcels using the [Landonline: Title Parcel Association](https://data.linz.govt.nz/table/52008) table. This table provides a PDMF-compliant link between property and title. The data is updated on a weekly basis. **Related tables** Please refer to the [NZ Properties Data Dictionary](https://data.linz.govt.nz/document/22999) for detailed metadata and information about this table and its relationships to other tables in this collection.

  • This pilot dataset provides a non-spatial relationship between unit_of_property_id and parent_unit_of_property_id for properties that have a parent property. This table connects properties to their parent properties. Not all properties have a parent property. The parent_unit_of_property_id is a foreign key linked to the unit_of_property_id in the Unit of Property table. The data is updated on a weekly basis. **Related tables** Please refer to the [NZ Properties Data Dictionary](https://data.linz.govt.nz/document/22999) for detailed metadata and information about this table and its relationships to other tables in this collection.

  • This pilot dataset provides a non-spatial data table linked to the unique Unit of Property ID. The table contains local Territorial Authority (TA) IDs or the IDs of other agencies that provide perspectives. In future this may change to become a number of tables with potentially other property-related links included. This table forms part of a national set of Connected Property Data conforming to the Property Data Management Framework (PDMF) that will deliver packages of data about properties. This is known as the NZ Property Spine. Initially, properties represented in the NZ Property Spine will meet the definition of a rating unit as defined by the Rating Valuation Rules 2008 (for the Valuation perspective). Future properties will meet the rules defined for their appropriate perspectives. The Perspective for each property in the NZ Property Spine is listed in this table. The table contains the fields perspective_type and source_id that allows identification of the type of property, and the source of the property. A property must have one or more perspectives. The table is updated on a weekly basis. **Related tables** Together with the NZ Properties: Property Title Reference and Unit of Property tables, this dataset will provide a national spatial representation of property boundaries along with the type and source of the property. Otherwise known as the NZ Property Spine. Please refer to the [NZ Properties Data Dictionary](https://data.linz.govt.nz/document/22999) for detailed metadata and information about this table and its relationships to other tables in this collection.

  • This pilot dataset provides a subset of the national collection of District Valuation Roll (DVR) data which is available under an open (CC:BY 4.0) licence. The data is based on DVR property audit files supplied to Toitū Te Whenua Land Information New Zealand by Territorial Authorities. The data is limited to that supplied by those Territorial Authorities that have given permission for their District Valuation Roll data to be made public by Toitū Te Whenua Land Information New Zealand. National DVR data for all Territorial Authorities is accessible for government organisations only, from [NZ Properties: National District Valuation Roll (Restricted Access)](https://data.linz.govt.nz/table/113969-nz-properties-national-district-valuation-roll/). This table is updated weekly. **Related tables** Together with the NZ Properties: Unit of Property Subset, NZ Properties: Property Title Reference Subset, and associated look-up tables, this dataset will provide a subset of a replica of the national DVR. Please refer to the [NZ Properties Data Dictionary](https://data.linz.govt.nz/document/22999) for detailed metadata and information about this table and its relationships to other tables in this collection. **Data structure** The structure of this table is based on the District Valuation Roll Property Audit File data structure set out in the Rating Valuations Rules 2008, with the following exceptions: - Unit of Property ID is added to give a primary key link to other tables - Ratepayer and Owner information is not included (this information is not supplied to LINZ by TAs as this is private information) - Field names have been altered to be more descriptive - Some field lengths have been increased to avoid truncation (e.g. Legal Description, Situation Name)

  • This layer provides cadastral Survey Capture Areas (SCA). In conjunction with the implementation of Landonline in each region, LINZ undertook a project to "back-capture" existing parcel boundaries in the main centres of population and land development. It was intended to "back-capture" approximately 70 percent of existing parcels, which equates to about 20 percent of the land area of New Zealand. The data capture known as "Populate Electronic Parcel" (PEP) was undertaken under contract by EDS. The areas to be captured known as "Survey Capture Areas" (SCA) were defined in consultation with local LINZ staff, survey practitioners and Local Authorities. Within the defined SCAs, the dimensions for surveyed right-lined boundaries of current parcels were captured from existing survey plans. In addition, sufficient traverses, boundary ties, and connections to the geodetic control were captured or surveyed to ensure adequate network geometry and strengthen areas where the boundary dimensions are unreliable. This survey network was adjusted to generate modern survey coordinates for all relevant nodes. Where the resulting boundaries comply with the accuracy requirements of the 1998 Survey Regulations, then the adjusted co-ordinates were declared to have SDC (Survey-accurate Digital Cadastre) status.
