Statement

This map belongs to a loosely defined Metric group of geological maps, most of which have been published, that have been compiled on various scale base sheets, typically 1:10 000 or 1:25 000 NZMS260-derived base sheets but may include record sheets at standard imperial scales such 1:15 840 NZMS1-derived base sheets, for publication at 1:50 000 or less commonly 1:25 000. The Metric group maps that were published were prepared with conventional manual cartography (<1990) or in some cases digital cartography (after 1990), then published as Hard Copy using offset printing presses, commonly with an explanatory text. The Hard Copy Map has been scanned at 600DPI, down-sampled to 300DPI, and georeferenced. The digital images have been combined into ImageService dataset for dissemination and released as Web Map Service.
