- Statement
- Process Step 1 (1994-2008): Data extracted from multiple sources at various scales and compiled on 1:50 000 map record sheets, simplified for use at 1:250 000 on to 1:50 000 compilation sheets, and digitised using ArcInfo. Plots of data verified by gis operator and author against compilation sheet. Attributes verified for logical consistency by gis operator. Process Step 2 (1994-2011): Data combined to form a single database for each individual QMAP sheet. Process Step 3 (1996-2011): Data passed initial verification checks and published as individual hardcopy maps. Process Step 4 (2006-2012): Data passed final verification against data dictionary and released in digital form on CD/DVD for individual QMAP sheets. Process Step 5 (2013): Data combined into single seamless dataset for New Zealand, with limited revision of features (principally at the margins of individual QMAP sheets), expansion of attributes and standardisation of names and terms. Process Step 6 (2014): Data projected to NZTM and released as Web Map Service and digital vector data. Process Step 7 (2016): Data released as Web Feature Service and Digital Vector Data. Process Step 8 (2017): Data alligned with LINZ 2016 topographic data (first edition). Process Step 9 (2018): Data updated to comply with relevant GeoSciML standards and released as digital vector data (second edition). Process Step 10 (2020): Data updated with recent geological mapping and aligned with LINZ 2020 topographic data. Process Step 11 (2020): Chatham Islands data incorporated. Process Step 12 (2022): Data passed QA testing and released as WMS, WFS, Feature Services and vector data (4th edition).
