Protected Areas to Parcel Association

This table records which current primary parcels are contained with DOC Administered Protected Areas. Most Protected Areas will be made up of more than one primary parcels.



This table can be used to link the [DOC Administered Protected Areas]( https://data.linz.govt.nz/layer/3564-protected-areas/ ) dataset to parcel layers such as [NZ Parcels]( https://data.linz.govt.nz/layer/1571-nz-parcels/ ), [NZ Linear Parcels]( https://data.linz.govt.nz/layer/1570-nz-linear-parcels/ ) or [NZ Primary Parcels]( https://data.linz.govt.nz/layer/772-nz-primary-parcels/ )

This table sources its information from the NaPALIS system, which includes DOC Protected Areas. Data in the table is updated through internal processes including acquisition or disposal of land. In some instances data may be out of date or the incorrect parcel identified. Protected Areas are linked to corresponding primary parcel(s) where available, or in some instances to unsurveyed parcels when the boundaries have been identified in land status checks and are made up of part parcels. Land is managed under the Conservation Act 1987, Reserves Act 1977, National Parks Act 1980, Marine Reserves Act 1971, Marine Mammals Protection Act 1978 as well as other legislation.
