ATA SVL GNS 1:250k geological units
This dataset is the 1:250 000 geological units data for southern Victoria Land, Antarctica between 76°40' S and 78°45' S. The dataset is a product of the QMAP 1: 250 000 mapping project and was produced by GNS Science. It represents a synthesis of the current and historical mapping of the geology of this area in a single dataset at a scale of 1:250 000. The dataset is stored in an ESRI vector geodatabase and exported to ArcGIS Server. The dataset comprises polygons with each polygon having attributes describing the type of geological unit, its content, name and age. It complies with the GeoSciML Portrayal standard for GeologicUnitView. The outcrop surface (map horizon) on which the features are mapped is the Earth surface. The fields required by the GeoSciML Portrayal standard were populated using the CGI Controlled Vocabulary (2012-11).

Attributes verified for logical consistency by gis operator. Process Step 3: Data combined to form a single database. Process Step 4: Data passed initial verification checks and reviewed by peers. Process Step 5: Data passed final verification against data dictionary and released in digital form on DVD and as Web Map and Web Feature Services .
